Cumbria is the most East-Westerly county of England and is home to the incredibly beautiful Lake District National Park, arguably some of the best and most breath-taking scenery in the whole of the United Kingdom.

Cumbria’s landscape is very mountainous and boasts the highest point in England (Scarfell Pike). Furthermore, it has an abundance of natural lakes including Windermere, also the largest of its kind in the country. Riders can marvel at the spectacular views whilst hacking across the Cumbrian countryside, which in many places provides a challenging, adverse and exciting terrain.

Holidays on horseback are very popular in Cumbria and therefore numerous equestrian centres can be found easily. The surroundings are perfect for mountain, forest and trail rides, and centres such as Hipshow Riding Stables, Stonetrail Riding Centre and Bigland Hall Equestrian all provide exhilarating trial riding itineraries in some of the best off-road riding spots in the country.
